Aerial Spacer Cable has been used in North America for almost seventy years, and on all seven continents for the last several decades. In some countries, one hundred percent of new aerial distribution construction is now built with spacer cable. Traditional and historical benefits were improved reliability and decreased tree trimming, but the application list has vastly expanded to include harsh weather resistance, river and gorge crossings, storm hardening, industrial sites (mining, petrochemical, pulp/paper, automotive, etc.), reduced right-of-way applications, multiple circuits, substation exits, environmental stewardship and wildfire mitigation. Spacer cable has been a viable and flexible tool used to control costs and improve both reliability and system efficiency across the globe. In 1995, Hendrix added on to their 15 kV, 25 kV, 35kV and 46 kV offerings a 69 kV spacer cable system. Numerous installations across America, Canada, South America and the Caribbean have proven this construction option in every imaginable urban, suburban, forested, and tropical environment conceivable. In 2019, Hendrix installed their first 115 kV pilot spacer cable system. This webinar will cover both 69 kV as well as the newer 115 kV spacer cable systems.
What the attendee will learn by attending this webinar:
- What 69 kV and 115 kV spacer cable systems physically consists of, including
components, dimensions, and materials.
- What application scenarios 69 kV and 115 kV spacer cable systems are most likely to benefit from.
- Discussions and photos of numerous transmission level spacer cable systems.
- The ability to ask the presenter in real time, questions which relate to his/her own application environment.
